Server 2012 R2

It’s the end of an era for Windows Server 2012 R2, as Microsoft’s support for this 11-year operating system will end, on October 10th, 2023.

What does this mean?

It means that there are now less than 180 days left until Server 2012 R2 reaches its end of life and will no longer be supported by Microsoft.

Why is this important?

Using an unsupported operating system like Server 2012 R2 puts your business at risk. Without regular security patches and updates, your operating system becomes an easy target for cybercriminals (hackers) looking to exploit vulnerabilities and steal sensitive data. Not only could this lead to financial loss, but it could also damage your reputation and erode customer trust.

Additionally, outdated operating systems like Server 2012 R2 may not be able to keep up with the demands of modern business practices. As your business grows and evolves, you may find that your operating system can no longer support your needs. This could lead to decreased efficiency, productivity, and even revenue.

Upgrading your operating system can help you take advantage of new features and technologies that can improve your business operations. For example, newer operating systems may offer improved security features, better performance, and enhanced compatibility with modern software and hardware.

So, what should you do if your business is still using Server 2012 R2?

Now is the time start planning your migration to a newer operating system and get in contact with your IT provider. While upgrading your operating system may seem like a daunting task, it’s important to remember that the benefits far outweigh the challenges. These students, part of the Computer Networking and Cybersecurity program, toured our offices and heard directly from three of our team members. They learned what it’s like working on the Service Desk, what a Networking Engineer does, and how Low Voltage, Security Doors, and Access Control help keep businesses protected and running.
