The Situation

New Haven Schools had previously installed an Avigilon camera system through another vendor, but over time it became clear that the system wasn’t delivering as expected. While the right equipment was in place, key settings weren’t properly configured, some components weren’t working as intended, and the system wasn’t being used to its full potential.

That’s when the district decided to bring in GRIT Technologies—not to replace the system, but to help make it work the way it should. With safety top of mind, they wanted a partner who could step in, identify the gaps, and help bring everything up to speed.

The Challenge

Though the hardware was already installed, the system itself hadn’t been optimized. Configuration issues, underutilized features, and a few physical adjustments to equipment created challenges for visibility and overall effectiveness.

Once the core system was running smoothly, GRIT was invited back to install additional cameras in the gym—supporting live streaming and recording of athletic events for students, families, and the broader school community.
